Walk to the look out above Bay of Coves

We had a steep but very satisfying walk up to the look out point above the walked the Bay of Coves Lodge.    You are advised to allow 2 hours for this walk and they were n't joking.  We were pleased we'd got water, poles and a high energy snack!

Superb views of the Marlborough Sound from the top.

We also met the lodge cat, Steve (named after Cat Stevens).  He catches vermin and doesn't go for birds after an encounter with a weka when he was a kitten.

On the way down we `took 5' at the clearing where there's newly planted rimu trees.   We watered them from the stream as per the request to passing walkers.

Mark was wondering about whether to go for a sea dip but instead enjoyed a complimentary glass of `Dog point' sauvignon blanc and a chat with the manager and owners of the lodge.  They spotted the big sting ray swimming near the jetty.
