Ulva Island

Hi all this is the post office cove beach on Ulva island a small isle off Stewart Island.   The buildings were part of the Island's first post office - chosen for its central location.  It's now where the tiny tourist ferry drops folk off.

The island is a conservation area and has been since the 1890s.  It's home to kiwis, penguins and rare birds such as the South Island Saddleback, we saw a couple of these.  We also spotted a seal or sea lion off Sydney beach.

The island is also well known for New Zealand flora and fauna.  A beautiful place.
