Lovely being back in Wellington!

Jane was last here 20 years ago - loved it then and we both think it's a great city.   Also lovely to be staying with Pippa and David again.  Pippa was our tour guide yesterday on the waterfront walk which has been added since Jane's last visit.

Our next stop was to go to Old St Paul's, Wellington's first cathedral and a fine example of Victorian gothic architecture but in wood.

We walked past `the Beehive', the parliament buildings en route to the Botanic Gardens.

The rose gardens are really pretty and we also followed Pippa's recommendation about this being an excellent cafe stop...coffee and cakes were superb!

The botanics has an observatory and a German WW1 gun captured by a NZ regiment.

This view of Wellington, taken close by the cable car, is probably the most well known...we were lucky to see it on such a beautiful day.

Closer to home, there's an equally fine view from Pippa and David's deck!  We've seen a couple of massive cruise ships apart from the comings and goings of the Inter-Island ferries.

Finally, a picture of mutual distrust!  This is Tilda the cat who takes a pretty dim view of strangers invading her space.
