Akaroa 9 March
Saturday morning at Akaroa
This is a very popular spot for weekenders from Christchurch plus a few cruise ships visit here. That must make it rather too busy as it's only a small place! It's proud of its French heritage, having been settled by a french community in the 1840s. Most of the street names are french plus the odd spoof one...Rue Matics 😊.
We had intended to do some serious walking but decided we were more in the mood for a couple of gentle strolls round the village and back to the airbnb. Mark in reflective mood...
The airbnb is in fantastic gardens....we can hear this stream from the terrace outside our loft room.
Akaroa is part of the Banks peninsular, south of Christchurch and formed by a volcano. The car journey here was spectacular and we expect tomorrow's journey on the Summit Road to be its equal.
